Baylor University Summer and Acceleration Programs

Greetings from Baylor Admissions!

We can't believe March is already here! We're sooo ready for those March winds to blow in some warmer weather. As we head into spring, we have lots of exciting things coming up. Here are some important updates for your Baylor applicants:

UPCOMING DATES:

  • NOW: Math ALEKS is available for students to start testing. Please encourage them to start early as this can take a while to complete.
  • NOW: Students can begin to fill out the New Student Advising Questionnaire in goBAYLOR, which allows them to share information about potential college credit they plan to transfer to Baylor as well as update their planned major. This information is important for getting advised.
  • April 1: This is the deadline for accepted Early Decision 2 students to pay their non-refundable $500 deposit to secure their spot.
  • April 6: Orientation & Line Camp Registration opens. This is a big deal for your students, so please encourage them to read the information and be prepared for the open date.
  • April 10: Regular Admission applicants will receive a decision and their scholarship and financial aid packaging information no later than this date if they met the February 1 deadline for all required applications (admission application, CSS Profile, and FASFA).
  • May 1: This is the priority date for students to submit their Housing Applications to participate in Roommate Matching and Choose Your Own Room. Program-specific applications, such as Living and Learning Communities, may be required as well.
  • May 1: This is the final deadline for accepted Early Action and Regular Admission students to pay their non-refundable $500 deposit to secure their spot.

HELP YOUR STUDENTS GET INTO BAYLOR
Applications for Baylor's pre-college programs are open! And course listings are now online.
With Baylor's Accelerate program, current sophomores and juniors can begin their academic pursuits at a discounted rate and get ahead on core course requirements that not only will apply to a range of Baylor degrees but may also be transferable to other universities. This is an especially great deal for rising high school seniors. If a rising high school senior earns a 3.0 GPA in at least 9 Baylor hours, they will jump to the front of the line to be considered for admission into Baylor’s incoming class of 2023!

BAYLOR-BOUND STUDENTS CAN GET AHEAD
Baylor-bound graduating seniors don't have to wait until August to start their Baylor adventure! With Baylor's Summer of Discovery program, they can:

  • Move into selected majors more quickly to graduate on time or early.
  • Easily add a minor or certification to degree programs, enhancing career paths.
  • Save money – the more summer courses taken, the greater the tuition discount.
  • Get the classes they want by getting advised for their summer AND fall courses at the same time starting in late April!

UPCOMING EVENTS
On April 9, high school students can Zoom through BU's award-winning campus, virtually experience college life, and ask questions of our talented faculty and staff at Baylor's Premiere event

We also always have ongoing ways for students to stay connected and get their questions answered, including virtual tours and webinars, such as our admissions presentations given by one of our admissions counselorscultural diversity and inclusion discussions and student life spotlights. With so many offerings, students are sure to find a way to connect that will fit with their schedule.

SENDING DUAL CREDIT WORK
If you have students who have already earned college hours, they can send their official college transcript to be evaluated in preparation for advising. If they have any classes during the current spring semester, they can submit those later, if applicable.

goBAYLOR IS IMPORTANT
Baylor applicants should consistently check their goBAYLOR portal for important checklist reminders and updates. As students are finalizing their college choice, there are important enrollment steps listed for easy tracking during the end of their school year. Deadlines come up fast throughout this process!

SLATE.ORG

It's the time of year when students are receiving their admission decisions, and we know you have a lot to keep track of as their counselor. We highly encourage you to join Slate.org to stay on top of it all. This is a free tool for counselors and community-based organizations that will help you stay current with your students' decisions, schedule visits with college representatives and easily submit documents as you work with students to enhance their applications.

Don’t hesitate to contact our office at (254) 710-3435 or visit baylor.edu/meet to find your admissions counselor. And please encourage your students, especially seniors, to connect with their admissions counselor as they work through finances and how to pay for college. Their admissions counselor is a fantastic resource, source of support, and advocate for them throughout the admissions process.

Sic 'Em,

Amanda Torres
Director of Admissions Counseling

*If a rising high school senior earned a cumulative 3.0 GPA or better while completing at least 9 Baylor course hours in the SUMMER prior to their senior year, and their school-record demonstrates good academic standing throughout high school, they will be considered to have met the academic requirements for admission. They may be admitted early to Baylor after completing a Fall 2023 application (available in August). Admission is contingent on a review of additional information covering behavioral and conduct issues.
