Greetings from the College of Architecture, Design and Construction at Auburn University! We hope your spring semester is going well! We are so excited to announce the registration for our 2022 High School Summer Camps is open. We have five different summer camps this year for our prospective high school students; Architecture Camp, Building Construction Camp, Industrial Design Workshop on campus, Industrial Design Workshop at our Mobile Futures Studio and our Construction Management Summer Academy for Young Women (CMSAYW).

 

The CMSAYW is a one week scholarship program, and every student selected to attend will receive a full scholarship for the camp. This camp will be a great camp for any young women who are considering the world of Architecture, Construction, Civil Engineering or Environmental Design. We are accepting applications through April 1^st.

 

If you have any students who might be interested in our camps, please feel free to share this information! We are also happy to answer any questions your students may have. Don’t hesitate to have them reach out to us or the Auburn Youth Programs’ Office directly. All our camps are taught by our amazing faculty and give students the opportunity to experience a CADC major for the week! Registration is available now and for students who would be interested in scholarships, the Summer Camp scholarship application is open until April 1^st.

Auburn Summer Engineering Camps

 Do you like math and science, interested in how things work, enjoy problem solving and like working with a team of people?

If so, you might be a future engineer. From defense and infrastructure to telecommunications and consumer electronics, engineers make the world a better place. An engineering degree can also open doors to careers in business, law and medicine. The options are limited by only your imagination!

The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering wants to expose middle and high school students to the world of engineering through our summer camps.  The camps will be conducted by faculty, staff and students from the college who will ensure students receive a broad overview of the engineering profession by participating in a number of hands-on activities. 

We will be offering the following camps this summer:

• Senior Tigers Engineering Camp (rising 12th graders)
• Auburn Engineering Summer Expo (rising 9th-12th graders)
• The Future of Paper, Pulp and Paper Camp (rising 12th graders)

Senior Tigers Engineering Camp: July 10 - 15, 2022

For rising 12th graders 

Price: $750

This is a residential camp. Throughout the week, students will explore the different engineering majors while participating in hands-on activities. Sessions will be led by engineering faculty members, Auburn Engineering students and engineering organizations. If you have any questions, please email Auburn Youth Programs at auyouth@auburn.edu. Auburn Engineering Summer Expo: TBD

For rising 9th - 12th graders

Price: TBD

This is a one-day program. During the day, students will explore the different engineering majors while participating in hands-on activities to tackle challenges for a particular theme. The Future of Paper (Pulp and Paper Camp): July 17 - 22, 2022

For rising 12th graders

Price: $25.00 application fee

The Pulp & Paper Camp, conducted by faculty, staff, and students from Auburn’s Alabama Center of Paper & Bioresource Engineering, is open to science-loving rising 12th graders who are interested in learning more about the power of paper for everyday life and the growing pulp and paper industry. Students interested in pursuing a degree in engineering (specifically chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or biosystems engineering) are encouraged to participate in the pulp and paper summer camp to learn more about the Pulp, Paper, & Bioresource specialization at Auburn University and the Auburn Pulp & Paper Scholarship opportunities.

Campers will learn about paper and papermaking firsthand, as well as participate in hands-on papermaking and texting experiments, tour a local paper mill, and learn about engineering at Auburn University.

San Diego State University: Creative Mind Academy

The Creative Mind Academy is an all-inclusive summer institute for high school students in grades 11 and 12 from the US and all over the world. Over the course of 4 weeks, students complete 6 transferable college units at SDSU's beautiful campus. The CMA experience itinerary includes a long list of workshops, seminars and excursions that will supplement classroom experiences with engaging activities. If you are interested in comics and graphic novels, film, electronic music and soundscapes, acting, musical theatre, coding for creatives, speech and drama, or social media and digital entrepreneurship, then you'll want to learn more today! SEA offers summer programs on shore, at sea, and online for rising high school sophomores, junior, and seniors. SEASCape is our 3 week summer program on the Cape to study marine environment from a variety of perspectives: scientific, historical, literary, and nautical. SEA Expedition is a 10 day field-based program at sea where you'll participate in every aspect of an offshore sailing and oceanographic voyage. It is the division of Arcos Learning Abroad dedicated to working with participants ages 14 to 18 years of age.
