Juniors and Seniors, the United States Senate Youth Program sends two delegates from every state to spend a week in Washington, D.C., where they study our government firsthand. There is also a $10,000 college scholarship for each delegate.
Georgia's United States Senate Youth Program application will be available in August 2022, and will be due October 7, 2022. Any Georgia high school junior or senior may apply to participate in the United States Senate Youth Program, provided they meet the criteria and secure signatures from their principal and school counselor. School counselors/USSYP coordinators who receive requests for the application from students should direct them to the application on this page (you may use short URL gadoe.org/USSYP) once posted.
Additional Information
High school juniors and seniors who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply:
- Must serve in an elected or appointed position representing a constituency during the current (2022-2023) school year – additional information on qualifying positions is included below.
- Will be attending high school in Georgia through spring 2023.
- The week of March 4-11, 2023, selected students will be required to completely block the timeframe of the program and attend all events in order to serve as delegates and receive the scholarship.
- Must have proof of U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residence (this is a requirement of the national program).
Qualifying Positions
Students must hold one of the following elected or appointed positions during the 2022-2023 school year.
- Student Body President
- Student Body Vice President
- Student Body Secretary
- Student Body Treasurer
- Student Council Representative
- Class President
- Class Vice President
- Class Secretary
- Class Treasurer
- Student representative elected or appointed (by a panel, commission, or board) to a district-, regional-, or state-level civic or educational organization approved by the state selection administrator.
